QUINCY - James Logan
Blair, 79, of Quincy, died suddenly at his home on
Thursday, June 14, 2007, of an
apparent heart attack.
He was born May 28, 1928, in
Morgan County, Ky., to Wilson
A. and Lina (Combs) Blair. He moved to Michigan in 1940, attending area schools. Mr.
Blair was a resident of Quincy for the past 55 years.
Jim was a truck driver for Commercial Carriers and Acorn Products for 46-1/2 years. He loved driving through the country, and following retirement he drove part-time for several years. He also loved caring for his vegetable garden, planting, weeding, harvesting and canning or freezing his tomatoes, corn and green beans. He was the custodian at the Storage Depot in Quincy and spent many hours caring for the yards.
Jim was a Past Noble Grand of the Rathbun 167 Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; a member of the District 7 Installing Staff; a.Past Chief Patriarch of the Encampment of Litchfield; and a past patron of the Kinderhook Eastern Star.
He married Betty Stiles on May 8, 1948, and she survives. Their marriage was blessed with five sons, James A. (Eileen) Blair of Brooklyn, Conn., Jack A. (Linda) Blair of Bowling Green, Ky., Stephen C. (Juliann) Blair of Quincy, Terry W. (Karen) Blair of Angola, Ind., and William (Jacquee) Blair of Quincy; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilson Aaron (Marilynn) Blair Jr. of Eastpointe; and special friends Dale (Jackie) Smith of Allen, and Billie Diamond of Quincy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Frieda Patterson; and one brother, Estil Jay Blair.
Visitation is scheduled Saturday from 2-4 p.rn. and 6-8 p.m. at the George White FUneral Home, Quincy. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial following in Lakeview Cemetery, Quincy. The Odd Fellow services will precede the funeral and will be conducted by the Grand Lodge of Michigan. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Public Library, in memory of Jim.
