Raymond C. Stuewer Lapeer Raymond Carl Stuewer, 61, of Lapeer, passed away Monday (July 16, 2007). He was born November 14, 1945, in Lapeer, to Carl and Madeline (Watz) Stuewer. He married Shirley Bean on April 9, 1977 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer. Raymond graduated from North Branch High School, Class of 1963, where he was a great basketball player. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Later in life, Mr. Stuewer was an avid golfer, bowler, hunter and fisherman. Ray loved woodworking. He was a member of the IOOF #22 in Fostoria. He was Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge, IOOF of Michigan. Raymond was active in all branches of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Lapeer; stepchildren, Charles (Cheryl) Ostrander of Davison, Suzanne Wiley of Flint, Gerald (Amy) Ostrander of Davison; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Naomi Wilson of Lapeer, Pauline (Bill) Westen of Houghton Lake, Robert (Dian) Stuewer of North Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Madeline Stuewer. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the U of M Cancer Center. Funeral services were held Thursday (July 19, 2007) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. Ralph H. Pieper officiated. Burial was in Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer, with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16. Arrangements made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, (810)664-8111.
